New ResearchupdatE

Panic sets in when a tree inspector sees a branch or stem fork with a tight angled union. It was always taught that such unions are a sheer-point and structural weak spot, and the adaptive growth at these junctions was never fully explained. Dr Duncan Slater has proven that such a tree form may be stronger than we first thought, paving the way for an alternative consideration of tree safety factors. Check out his recent workSlater D (2018) Natural bracing in trees: Management recommendations. Arboricultural Journal 40 (2), 106-133.
